French/ English Education Degree M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction

Cyran Hounnou

My name is Cyran Hounnou and I am a 6-12 certified French Immersion and French second language teacher.

I graduated from Ecole Normale Superieure, the teacher training college of the National University of Benin as a French language art and English as a second language teacher. I also earned a bachelor degree in English with a concentration in African literature and civilization studies.

To cope with the growing changes of education in the digital world, I pursued a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction at the American College of Education.

I taught French and ESL in Benin for twelve years in three Public schools and a private school.

In the fall of 2000, I started teaching at Moss Bluff Middle School as a CODOFIL teacher.

For the past twenty years, I have taught both French Immersion and second language 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.

Many of my second students have earned their French I high school credit. My French Immersion students have earned both French I and French II high school credits as well as the international French language proficiency certificate DELF.

As a world language teacher, I strongly believe that every child should be given the opportunity to learn and be able to speak a foreign language because bi literacy is a powerful asset on the global job market.

I am looking forward to working with my old and new French Immersion students again this year.
