Hey! Think art is just about drawing?

"I can't draw!" you say?

Well guess what? Just relax and think again.......

This is an art enrichment class to help introduce

you to lots of new things about art.

We begin in the 6th grade with skill building on things like drawing, using drawing exercises to learn about sketching and shading, design basics (how to arrange things on paper so they look good), and color theory which is all about Isaac Newton and cool things about color combinations. We even throw in some history about art! You might even say you come to appreciate art in ways you never knew you could before. But that's not all...........you will even learn some basic problem-solving and creative thinking skills, things you could use in real-life. Huh?.....in art class? That's right. Skills that can be applied to other classes, such as all that measuring you learn from Math Class, or Creative Journaling using all that stuff you learn from ELA Class! What about color and light? Sound familiar......things you learn in Science Class!

Each year you will build on what you have learned from the 6th grade until you begin to get a pretty good general idea of what art is about. (It's not just about drawing, you know). Of course, it is so fascinating and there is so much to learn about art that if you are still curious you can get a lot more in high school and way more in college!

 But, we are getting ahead of ourselves. Just relax, don't sweat the small stuff, keep an open mind and let's jump headfirst into the Gigantic World of Art!
